American Girl 3-D Retail Books (Chicago-WTP)
While revamping our Chicago retail store, I was tasked with creating graphics for (3) oversized 3-dimensional books—paying homage to our original Historical Character books, that started it all. Collaborating closely with our structural and graphics vendors, I created artwork to fit the large-scale structures. I also consulted on the installation process of the large vinyl graphic wraps, and dimensional photo-op standee, character lock-ups, and inner stars. Below shows the 2-D graphic artwork files, and installation guide pages—providing instruction for graphic install.

Installation Guide

STEP 1
Determine visually pleasing locations for each book, in context of the flow and space with all floor fixtures in place. Dimensions given are approximate starting points, based on the plan view/ map. Wrap structure with vinyl graphics, ensuring a flush/edge-to-edge trim.

STEP 2.1
Pre-drill holes through vinyl graphics—per template provided—insert stand-off pins, drill into plywood layer below Kerfkore facade.

STEP 2.2
Attach 1/4" acrylic backers to the stand-off pins, with vendor supplied hardware/screws (size M8 x 1.25).

STEP 2.3
Apply clear construction adhesive to surface of the acrylic bases in step 2.2, attach character lock-ups and inner stars to applicable locations referenced. Clamp in place to ensure a strong permanent bond/adhesion is achieved while it cures/dries, while completing step 3.

STEP 3
Install character standees with predetermined L-brackets/hardware, drilling directly into concrete floor.
